‘Rookie Blue’ Review: “A Good Shoot” (3.03)

Pure genius. There’s no other words to describe the returning ABC hit show Rookie Blue. Season 3 had been every bit as impressive and entertaining as previous seasons. This season we learn even more about our favorite entertaining, sexy, funny rookies in blue. They are no longer rookies, although at times their questionable choices make them “rookie” like.

Episode 3 focuses on the fun loving Dov Epstein (Gregory Smith). The eager to impress young cop stops at a convenient store and finds himself face to face with a armed robbery in progress. You feel every emotion and stress well portrayed by Gregory Smith while he’s confronted by the suspect with a gun.  Or did the suspect really have a gun? Shots are fired and when back up arrives they find Officer Epstein trying desperately to save the  young man he shot who later dies during surgery. When the suspects gun cannot be found anywhere and the only witness is not giving any information up, it becomes blurry for Dov Epstein to remember clearly what happened. He questions himself of what happened but his fellow rookies have his back all the way.

We get to see a new sexy bad cop side of Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym) when her friend and fellow officer is in hot water. This new side is noticed also by her partner and boyfriend Sam Swarek (Ben Bass). Also we see the detective prospect Traci Nash (Enuka Okuma) figure out what really went down during the armed robbery. Andy and Traci findout there was a second suspect in the store during the robbery that took the missing gun with him as he left. This new information clears Dov of the shooting when they find the second suspect and gun. Traci did such great work that she seals the deal for a detective rotation.

Another heart pounding episode it truly was. This show is absolutely hot! Great writing and even better casting makes me drool of the thought of next weeks episode of Rookie Blue. Expect nothing but a cool, funny, dramatic and romantic episodes to be in the future. Bravo to ABC for the return of great television at last, in a world of reality television, Rookie Blue is being welcomed by millions with open arms.
