Ringer is finally back after one hellishly long hiatus, so get ready to be bitch slapped or if you are Mr. Carpenter punched. Before I discuss the juicy tidbits, however, of the first episode of the New Year, lets do a brief recap:
When last, we saw Ringer mystery of Gemma’s kidnapping and subsequent murder was revealed. Bridget finally thought she was safe to live her life, well her life as Siobhan anyway. Andrew was happy and Henry was miserable. Juliet claimed that Mr. Carpenter had forced her to have sex with him and if all that was enough of a fall finale. Siobhan was back in New York City, very much pregnant and intent of fulfilling her agenda. Oh yeah as cliffhangers go this was a doozey, but how did its return episode fair. Lets discuss…
The Sisters: Ringer starts off playing the rewind card and while I normally find this device over used (insert eye roll here) I have to hand to Ringer because for shock value alone Siobhan slowly stalking her way towards Bridget take a shower it was worth it.
Bridget: Suddenly we come back its two days earlier, Bridget is blissfully happy. She and Andrew have spent that last two weeks living the dream, all is right in the world. Bridget agrees to go to dinner with Andrew’s Friend and wife, once again playing at knowing who people are. I often find it interesting how easy Bridget has stepped into Siobhan life, is she really that good of an actress or did her sister just keep people at that much of a distance. The only question to ever question Bridget’s behavior, as Siobhan is Henry I think this is significant. We meet the friends wife, guest star Madchen Amick, she gives Bridget flowers, peonies to be exact, if you recall from earlier episodes this is significant just not in a way Bridget has figured out yet. So, what does Greer know… well clearly something that Bridget needs to know as well. Will she ever stop cleaning up after Siobhan’s indiscretions? If I were to garner a guess, I would say no. Still Bridget isn’t letting this get her down and is simply determined to make it right by joining Greer in hosting the fundraiser for Juliet’s school. She ends up making a new friend in Greer and figuring out that she’d found out about Siobhan’s affair with Henry also she gets an interesting clue regarding a hotel in Boston. Bridget is basking, she even gets Malcolm a job with Andrew. Her best friend and husband working together, it doesn’t get better, but seriously Bridgett should know better at this point wouldn’t you say?
Siobhan: Siobhan was both at her evil single white female-ish best (if you don’t know the reference I’d recommend renting the movie; trust me you won’t regret it) as well as dare I say oddly vulnerable. Her scenes with Henry were amazing. As I mentioned earlier he seems to be, the only one she allows to see that side of outside of flashbacks we have seen with her sister. I loved seeing a Siobhan who was sincere, if the vibe she was sending off can be believed. I know I just called her SWF, but… spoiler alert: SHE TOOK THE RING!! Yet, she was also and again I should probably preface with “seemed” as this is Siobhan after all; master manipulator truly upset over Henry’s dismissal, to the point that well I have to wonder will she actually tell him the truth? Well, her version of it anyway. The upcoming promo definitely seems to imply that that is where we are headed. Siobhan is still manipulating Tyler with her “you’re the daddy” lie – I look forward to the day Tyler turns on her cause we all know he will. Henry on the other hand is a different matter if knew about switch, would he help or hinder the lie? Henry was sleeping with his wife’s best friend so clearly he does not mind a lie or two.
Everybody Else: Juliet has some definite problems coming in the horizon. I don’t honestly know what to make of this side story and won’t judge it too harshly yet. Although anything involving, Jason Dohring gets at least a temporary reprieve from me. Since the most entertaining thing about was, the right-hook Bridget gave the accused teacher. (Somebody channeled their inner Buffy!!) Did he really force her? He did seem awfully surprised. Could he have thought it was consensual and now Juliet’s guilt is the real culprit? Or is something for more nefarious behind all this?
All in all this come back was definitely worth the wait and I look forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out. What did you think? Make sure to share your thoughts with me either here or on my twitter @athena606.
