New ‘Spongebob Squarepants’ Christmas Special To Air On CBS This Thanksgiving Weekend

Earlier this summer, we revealed that this Holiday season would bring an all-new present in the form of a secondSpongebob Squarepants Christmas special. Like the classic Rankin/Bass specials before it, this time the delightful little nerd from under the sea will be going stop-motion animated for the first time ever as Plankton decides to try and wreck the holidays. But it seems now that this year’s holiday festivities will be getting the network treatment as the latest celebration will be premiering right after Thanksgiving.

CBS has announced that they will debut the new special “It’s A Spongebob Christmas!” on Friday November 23rd at 9:30PM. Among the regular voice cast of characters, John Goodman will be guest starring as the voice of good ol’ Robot Santa Santa Claus. It’s unclear what will join the Christmas-themed episode on the night of, but it could easily be joined by some classic annual outings.

As the first stop-animation feature for SpongeBob SquarePants, It’s A Spongebob Christmas! is inspired by the popular song, “Don’t be a Jerk, It’s Christmas,” by Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob SquarePants) and Andy Paley. In this new special, Mr. Krabs’ nemesis, Plankton, vows to get his Christmas wish – obtaining the Krusty Krab’s secret Krabby Patty formula – by turning everyone bad in Bikini Bottom with the help of his special jerktonium-laced fruitcake.
