Now that the latest summer in The Hamptons have begun to gain some serious momentum and one character’s fate is left hanging in the balance, Emily Thorne is certainly back with a major agenda as Revenge has certainly overcome an early slump to return as the addictive twist-filled thriller that fans know and love. Though Nolan is now off starting his own romance, it’s been Barry Sloane’s character of Aiden that has stepped into his shoes as a complicated yet loyal partner for Emily. Now, it seems we’ll be getting more of the fellow super spy as he’s gone beyond the initial call for the character’s 13 episode arc.
ABC has announced that Sloane has officially received a series regular status, in which he’ll appear beyond his original 13 episode arc and will be making appearances in the final nine episodes of the second season. However, the actor will still remain on track to recur through these first 13 episodes of which he’ll then transition to a regular role in Episode 14, confirmed to appear in every installment from there on. Beyond that, Sloane also has an option in his new contract to return for Season 3.
Interestingly enough, the promotion easily rules out Aiden as the dead body that has yet to be revealed at the bottom of the sea with the shipwrecked The Amanda in a flashforward that aired in the season premiere. Creator Mike Kelley has said that look ahead will be filled in the 14th episode, with aftermath to follow an upcoming wedding day of which the couple trading vows has yet to be unveiled as well.
Sloane’s character of Aiden is slowly proving himself to love interest Emily, whom he shared a romantic past with in Japan as the two were in training under mentor Takeda. Aiden’s own backstory has yet to be completely revealed, but what’s been detailed thus far is that he was attempting to save his sister that he unfortunately ending up losing. It’s here that he wants to prevent Emily from messing up in the same way with her mother, who has recently returned to town in lieu of her “daughter” winding up in the hospital.
Revenge airs every Sunday night at 8PM on ABC.
