Rosario Dawson Confirms She’s Back as Gail for ‘Sin City 2′

Dawson as Gail

After a long summer filled with promises, the long anticipated sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has still failed to move into production despite the vow that cameras would start rolling sometime after Robert Rodriguez finished Machete Kills. While a handful of returning cast members will be back to reprise their roles, it’s unclear at this point whether or not the second installment will make the deadline it set for itself next October. Regardless, it seems we can count one more in for the upcoming story as one actress has declared she’s back with her Uzi submachine gun.

Talking to E! News, Rosario Dawson who plays the character of Gail declared ”It’s in! It’s happening! Can’t tell you nothing.” Rodriguez hinted at Dawson’s development back in April, telling MTV ”I saw Rosario [Dawson] too. I ran into her for something else, and she’s pumped. They’ve always been excited about doing another one, so that will be fun.” She will join fellow returning cast members Clive Owen, Jessica Alba, Michael Madsen, Mickey Rourke and Devon Aoki.

Gail is one of the authority figures and enforces of Old Town, of which author and co-director Frank Miller has described her as a type of character reminiscent to Catwoman. She has a complicated relationship with Owen’s character of Dwight McCarthy, while Dwight hinted that there was “one fiery night when she was mine”. Whether or not we’ll get to see the origins of the two have yet to be seen as plot details are ever slim for the upcoming feature.

Miller and Rodriguez will be directing while they co-wrote the script from William Monahan based off of the graphic novel of the same name by Miller. Dimension Films will be distributing once more for a set release date of October 4th, 2013.
