With just a little over a week to go until the new season kicks off, fans of Once Upon a Time are chomping at the bit for any indication as to what else the new season will bring to tie them over until the wait is over. As we journey back to some beloved elements from the end of last season along with some new characters such as Mulan, Sleeping Beauty and more, the story has been kept very tightly under wraps as magic is still descending upon Storybrooke. Now the two men responsible for creating the series open themselves up to a round of inquiries that actually reveal what else we can expect from Season 2.
In a number of rapid fire questions, co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis answered a number of questions for TV Guide concerning what’s to come on Once Upon a Time. While there were plenty that the duo shot down or couldn’t answer, there were a number of interesting responses that may have fans expecting more of what’s to come this coming year.
One of the more interesting reveals happened to be that the show might not focus on the usual heroes known for battling Captain Hook, but rather the beginnings of the fairy who has become a Disney icon. “There is a chance we’ll see Peter Pan, Wendy and/or… [dramatic pause] Tinker Bell,” Kitsis says. “I would say that a story like Tinker Bell’s deserves its own origin story”.
Meanwhile, we’re aware that Sebastian Stan will be back early on this season for a recurring stint of at least three episodes as The Mad Hatter himself Jefferson, which already has plenty excited due to his fan-favorite status. But like the revisiting of Regina’s past to expand upon her flashback story, will we be doing the same for Jefferson? The answer is an emphatic yes as Kitsis and Horowitz revealed we will be traveling back to Wonderland while we will also be entering the doors of the many lands displayed inside Jefferson’s hat.
However, it seems we won’t be receiving a reveal to a mystery some are anxious to discover: who is Jefferson’s ex-wife. While we known the Hatter’s daughter Grace comes into play with this curse-free world of Storybrooke, the creators confirmed that we won’t be discovering the identity of the mother just yet. Though it you’re looking for a parent-daughter relationship to really come forth, Beauty and the Beast fans may be comforted to know we’ll see more of Belle’s relationship with her father Maurice.
