Logline for ‘Lobo’ Has Surfaced, The Rock Seemingly Signed To Play Titular Lead

This past week has been a whirlwind one for one DC Comics character in particular: Lobo. There was a major rumor a few days ago that had placed the alien bounty hunter as possibly being a part of the upcoming team-up feature Justice League, which Warner Brothers is still attempting to find a director for. At this point, the studio is not only itching to get the high-profile team on the big screen but also putting the pieces together to create their own cinematic universe.

One feature that really has started a massive development this year is Brad Peyton’s focus on the character in Lobo, which has been the object of many reports since the revival status of the project earlier this year. Now it seems we might not only have a short story to go off of but one wrestler turned actor seems confirmed for the lead role.

ItsOnTheGrid (via CBM) has posted a short synopsis for Lobo, which reads “Lobo, a powerful alien bounty hunter, lands on Earth in search for four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc”. Don Payne is listed as the previous writer on the project before Peyton came on board, with Dwayne Johnson listed as the sole castmember. Now, there is no official confirmation regarding the story or the casting, so we’d take this with just a grain of salt for now.

However, Johnson has long been unofficial for the Lobo movie for some time now. In the most recent acknowledgement back in July, Johnson confirmed that rumors regarding his involvement were in fact true, but that he was simply “in talks”. Whether or not he’s signed some sort of deal is up in the air.

It’s known that Warner Brothers would like to get a number of DC-related superhero features up on the big screen starting in 2015, with Wonder Woman, The Flash, a rebooted Batman and others all in the projected line-up. There has been talk that DC will actually lead with Justice League in 2015 while we’ll then branch out with these characters in following years. If Lobo should be one of these first wave characters and a logline already making its way out, perhaps the rumor of the character showing up in Justice League has some validity to it after all.

We’ll keep you updated as information develops in the future.

What do you think? Real or fake? Can we expect Johnson to be rocking the long hair as a DC anti-hero soon?
