With actress Jennifer Lawrence dying her hair back to brunette, it’s clear to fans that the highly anticipated sequel to this year’s hit film The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, has officially started production. The most intriguing process of the entire summer so far has been watching casting updates roll in as a slew of new faces join the fan beloved franchise. Now, it’s the first look fans have been waiting for as the first set photos from the upcoming sequel have been revealed and feature just a small glimpse at the number of tributes that will be appearing in the upcoming film.
Though it’s not exactly our first look at their characters, it’s hard to say just whether or not these are the final looks for most of the characters. Jena Malone, Sam Claflin and Josh Hutcherson seem to be the most notable, all sporting dyed hair while just a small aspect happens to be that Hutcherson has a slighly different look than Gary Ross’ original film. We get quick shots of Amanda Plummer, Lynn Cohen, Alan Ritchson ad more as well, all seemingly sporting the same gear for a possible training scene.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has sold more than 50 million books in print and digital in the U.S. alone.
Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, Golding, Jena Malone, Lynn Cohen, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Amanda Plummer, Willow Shields, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones and more, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set for release on November 22nd, 2013.
