This past week has been a big one for those in need of a Kick-Ass 2 fix thanks to the fact that the very public locations for production have led to plenty of spy photos that have given us many first looks into the upcoming sequel. So far we’ve seen a heroic duo kissing, a first look at our main villain and his right hand lady, a glimpse of Donald Faison as the new hero Doctor Gravity and even a familiar face donning his own suit for some crimefighting. Now one of the most anticipated pieces of the sequel has also been revealed as we get our first look at an A-lister at the front of the superhero squad Justice Forever.
Shooting on what appears to be the same street that The Motherf**ker robbed a convenience store with his driver (John Leguizamo) in tow, we get our first glimpses at multiple costumed characters from the league, including Lindy Booth as Night-Bitch and most notably Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars. Joining them in costume are Aaron Johnson as the titular hero, Clark Duke who has decided to put on a costume as Battle-Guy and Donald Faison returning as Doctor Gravity.
What’s one of the most interesting elements is that in order to give Carrey a more hardened look, it appears as if he is donning some facial prosthetics for a different look. The short grey hair is obviously a given while Stars in full costume certainly lacks a more muscular and menacing appearance than he does from the comics. Hopefully his performance can truly bring out the best from this fan-favorite character.
Co-starring Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Morris Chestnut and more, Kick-Ass 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 28th, 2013.
