Last month, we brought you a slew of poster images that ABC had released online in a fan-fueled effort to vote for the final poster art that will be seen in various locations in the coming weeks until the season premiere. While there were a few favorite images the included the dreaded apple from Regina and even a few enhanced versions of last year’s character posters, fans really embraced a powerful one-sheet that included a sword-wielding Emma staring at the purple smoke which we were left with in the season finale. Now ABC has revealed the final poster they will be using and though it’s the one fans’ picked, Emma has a different look to her than the prototype they voted for.
TV Line revealed the poster today, which doesn’t change up too much but gives us a less shaded look at our lead heroine while also letting her hair flow instead of scrunched up in the preliminary photo. It’s not too significant of an adjustment; however the final image certainly has more of an epic feel to it than the original variation.
ABC has also announced this week that in preparation for the second season premiere, there will be a one hour recap narrated by GianCarlo Esposito (Sydney Glass a.k.a. The Magic Mirror from Season 1) starting at 7PM right before the all-new episode. Esposito will not be returning in Season 2 due to his series regular status on NBC’s new drama Revolution, though the role is wide open in the event he could return. When we last saw Glass, he was locked up in the psychiatric ward of the Storybrooke hospital, so it’s clear that he’ll likely stay put for the time being.
The season premiere will also feature Jamie Chung, Sarah Bolger and Julian Morris as Mulan, Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip, respectively. Among other new faces this year, Sinqua Walls will be appearing as Lancelot and Michael Raymond James as a role that has yet to be determined, while fan-favorites Barbara Hershey, Bailee Madison, Sebastian Stan, Lee Arenberg and others will resurface.
Once Upon a Time Season 2 will kick off Sunday September 30th at 8PM.
