While it still has a month until it finally premieres on television, The CW’s Arrow has not only a massive amount of buzz but also plenty of comic book credibility in tow. Numerous DC Comics characters have been confirmed to make an appearance in the new superhero series, which take a gritty realistic approach to the world of Green Arrow. As Deathstroke is ready to pull the strings on the villains of the upcoming season, the latest round of casting has revealed that we will get to see yet another version of characters from the comics only in a more reimagined capacity.
Zap2It reports that actor Kyle Schmid has been cast in the role of Ace, the leader of the supervillain group known as The Royal Flush Gang. While the comic book version of the gang includes mind control, super strength, energy blasters and more, plot details are being kept under wraps as to exactly how we’ll be seeing them this time around. Sources tell the site, “we’ll see a major bank robbery, with a crowd of hostages eventually leaving the building…wearing playing card masks”.
There’s no word on whether or not the rest of the gang will be joining Ace, though it certainly seems likely. Schmid will be appearing as the chararcter in the sixth episode of the season “Legacies” set to air later this year.
Ace joins fellow DC characters Oliver Queen, Dinah Lance, China White, The Huntress, Constantine Drakon, Deadshot and others who have been cast as guest stars of recurring roles in the upcoming season. Doctor Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman has also been hinted as having some type of DC origins, though any additional information on his character of the “Well-Dressed Man” is being kept quiet for the time being.
Schmid has previously appeared in the SyFy series Being Human in a recurring role as vampire Henry, while he’s also known for the short-lived Lifetime series Blood Ties. He currently can be seen as a protagonist on the BBC crime dramaCopper.
Arrow premieres Wednesday October 10th at 8PM on The CW.
