In the past few weeks, it seems the networks are not only getting ready to kick off this year’s fall slate of television series but they’re also set to build next year’s potential new shows. While we’ve heard about Robin Williams returning, a Beverly Hills Cop continuation, a new sci-fi robot/crime series from J.J. Abrams, Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. and more, it seems the drama continues to grow as the development slate for Pilot Season 2013 continues to expand. Now, two networks have now taken an interest in two seperate pilots from showrunners who have certainly been the talk of the year thus far: the creator of the short-lived NBC drama Awake and the man responsible for FX’s hit Justified.

First up, Kyle Killen has reached a put pilot commitment deal with ABC for his new project Influence. The Lone Star andAwake creator was sought after by multiple networks while 20th Century Fox television will be producing the potential new series, Deadline reports.

Influence is described as “a provocative workplace ensemble centered on the complicated relationship between two brothers — a bipolar genius in human psychology and a slick ex-con — who head a unique agency designed to solve their clients’ problems using the real science of human motivation and manipulation. In addition to helping their clients, the agency’s staff sometime turn their powers to pull strings on one another”.

Killen will write and executive produce, though there is no word on whether or not he will be the showrunner.

Meanwhile, Justified creator Graham Yost may be returning to NBC for the first time since he served as an executive producer on the short-lived 2007 series Raines with Jeff Goldblum. Yost has just reached a deal to write and executive produce the pilot for a new hour-long drama called L.A. Woman. NBC has only ordered a script so far for the project, with a pilot commitment possible in the coming months.

THR reports that the possible new show produced by Sony Pictures Television will revolve around a female spy in 1970s Los Angeles, though plot details are currently slim due to the early nature of the pilot. This is the second spy-related effort by Yost as his new FX drama involving KGB Spies called The Americans, starring Keri Russell, was picked up by the network last month.

Justified was picked up for Season 4 back in March, which is expected to return sometime next year, while Yost also serves as the EP on TNT’s Falling Skies, which was also renewed for a third season just last month.
