Terry Crews Says ‘Idiocracy’ Spin-Off In Talks at 20th Century Fox

Will President Camacho be back?

Out of the cult hits that have captivated pop culture in the past decade, there are those films that have gained quite the outstanding reputation. Mike Judge’s Idiocracy happens to be one of them, featuring a post-apocalyptic brand of idiots with a unique brand of humor that has certainly lead to plenty of quotable lines with a cast that has certainly gained plenty of fame in the six years since release.

One of those stars happens to be Terry Crews, who has been nearly everywhere lately from HBO’s The Newsroom, the upcoming action sequel The Expendables 2, and even the NBC reality series Stars Earn Stripes. Now in the middle of making promotion runs, Crews has revealed that Judge’s Idiocracy world may get just a little bigger.

Back in 2007, Crews had said that he would have loved to reprise his Idiocracy role of President Camacho someday in the future. Well, it looks like the future is here as Crews has revealed in an interview with Movieline that he and writer/director Mike Judge have met with 20th Century Fox in the hopes of developing an Idiocracy spin-off.

“Me and Mike [Judge] are talking right now with Fox about some Camacho stuff,” he said. “We literally met with Fox a week ago. It’s so cool. We’re going to see what it becomes, but we got approval from Fox to do some stuff. We’re going to start off on the internet and do some small interstitials with Camacho. We’ll see! We’ve just got to gauge the interest and Fox wants to start slow…you’ve got to let it take off.”

Now if a spin-off were to develop, it’s likely the film would be a prequel that focuses on Camancho’s rise to power before Luke Wilson’s “intelligent” Joe made his way into the distant future. It should be stressed that nothing has been given the greenlight just yet, but hey at least something is in talks for now.
