‘Sons of Anarchy’ Star Charlie Hunnam Goes for Laughs in Trailer for ‘Frankie Go Boom’

Sons of Anarchy has brought forth a great acting duo in the form of Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman, with the two also set to co-star in the buzzed about sci-fi epic Pacific Rim from director Guillermo del Toro next summer. But, what if the two teamed up for a comedy? That’s almost what we get with the upcoming laffer 3, 2, 1… Frankie Go Boom, which finds Hunnam ditching the more serious roles for something with plenty more jokes.

With an impressive cast that also includes Bridesmaids‘ Chris O’Dowd, Party Down‘s Lizz Caplan and even veteran actor Chris Noth, the pieces are all there for plenty of potential. However, can the film succeed in being a quirky surprise smash? That’s the question posed today as the first trailer for the film his hit.

Frank Bartlett (Hunnam) has been tortured, embarrassed, and humiliated by his brother Bruce (O’Dowd) — usually on film — his entire life. Now that Bruce is finally off drugs and has turned his life around, things should be different. They are not. Instead, his aspiring director sibling decides to film a romantic encounter that Frank has with a broken hearted woman (Caplan), who actually turns out to be the daughter of Bruce’s producer (Noth). When the film hits the internet, not only must the brothers try to get the video taken down completely but also must prevent turning a bad situation into a life-threatening altercation.

Directed by Jordan Roberts, 3, 2, 1…Frankie Go Boom will  be released in theaters on October 12th, but will be hit Video On Demand September 10th.
