Since the finale of Reno 911, actor Thomas Lennon has been on both sides of the camera as he’s made appearances in some of the biggest films and television series over the last few years. With his latest cameo in The Dark Knight Rises, the actor is still having a blast turning up nearly everywhere while his latest comedic effort The Internship continues in principal photography. Now, Lennon is headed back to television for another short role and this time he is ready to hit one of TV’s biggest comedies: How I Met Your Mother. And if that wasn’t enough, he’ll be playing an important role in the story of where we last left of regarding Ted and Victoria.
EW reports that Lennon has signed on to guest star as Klaus, the husband-to-be of Victoria’s that she ditched on her wedding day in order to meet Ted and drive off into the sunset. The season premiere picks up where the finale left off, but Ted decides to turn the car around in order for Victoria to leave a note that she’s leaving Klaus at the altar.
It’s unclear how many episodes Lennon will be sticking around for, but he’s at least expected for the season premiere. Whether or not he will come back later in the season in order to win her back is another question altogether.
Lennon completes a trio of men confirmed to show up in the eight season of How I Met Your Mother, but is the first all-new character to be cast. Michael Trucco will be returning to reprise his one-off guest spot as Robin’s crush, which will be transformed into a major recurring love interest for our resident newscaster. Joe Manganiello will reprise his role of Brad for two episodes, returning as Marshall’s friend from law school for the first time since Marshall and Lily gave birth to their first child.
Lennon most recently appeared in the season finale of New Girl, and has been seen in A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas,The League, Archer and more.
How I Met Your Mother returns September 24th at 8PM on CBS.
