The past month has been full of so many casting updates from ABC’s fairy tale hit Once Upon a Time, it’s almost hard to keep up. With a few returning favorites revealed behind closed doors as well, the Comic-Con panel also revealed the first teaser footage for the upcoming second season that saw an unseen man break into Gold’s Pawn Shop and steal back what was rightfully his: his hook hand. The Peter Pan villain Captain Hook is scheduled to make an appearance this coming season, but there have been no developments since the teaser’s unveiling. Now, the series has progressed and cast the man behind the moustache.
TV Line reports that actor Colin O’Donoghue has been cast as Captain Hook in the upcoming season. ”A handsome, fearsome and confident pirate ship captain, Hook relishes every challenge and never backs down from a fight, whether the reward is power, riches, or women. He possesses the meticulous style and old-school manners of a proper gentleman, but beneath that veneer lies a vindictive enemy who will not rest until all his enemies have been defeated…and humiliated”.
As of right now, O’Donoghue is only signed on for one installment as he will first appear in the fourth episode of Season 2. He currently has the potential to recur and given the series’ nature to have even the biggest guest stars return we’d expect to see plenty more Hook in the future.
O’Donoghue joins fellow new faces Wren Kingston as Prince Phillip, Sarah Bolger as Princess Aurora, Sinqua Walls as Sir Lancelot and Jamie Chung as Mulan, while Meghan Ory (Red) and Emilie de Ravin (Belle) have been bumped up to series regulars.
Once Upon a Time returns Sunday September 30th at 8PM on ABC.
