Newest Trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘The Master’ Focuses on Love and Pain

As plenty of Best Picture possible films emerge starting next month, one under the ever-watchful eye of critics has been Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming The Master. The film was recently bumped up a month and with some impressive promotional material thus far it has peaked the interest of nearly everyone who has come across it. With a trio of impressive actors in tow, Anderson’s follow-up to There Will Be Blood certainly has people talking. Now, the focus of the film shifts from the more dramatic aspects to one with more heart as the latest theatrical trailer centers on the aspects of both romance and the hurt that can come with it.

Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams, the film follows a Navy sailor (Phoenix) trying to cope with his new place in the world following World War II. After he becomes abusively drunk, he eventually reaches a point of spiritual enlightenment thanks to a new religion from a very devout man (Hoffman). It’s only when the religion begins to grow that the man questions his new found mentor, and wondering if his faith has truly gone into the wrong beliefs.

The Master is due out on September 14th.
