‘Lost’ Alum Jorge Garcia Officially Joins ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 2 As Guest Star

Garcia

Over the summer, there have been plenty of reports regaringOnce Upon a Time Season 2 as the plans for the fairy tale drama have been plenty regarding the generous number of characters. There has been talk regarding various characters returning, a slew of new roles being cast and in one fit of wishful thinking a trio of Lost actors returning to television to play some upcoming roles. Today, however, it seems that wishful thinking has begun to come true as one of the mentioned actors has finally been cast as a piece of the Storybrooke puzzle.

ABC has announced that Jorge Garcia has joined Once Upon a Time for a guest star role of a “giant” in Season 2. No further details are currently ready, but Garcia has currently only commited to one episode. Garcia joins fellow Lost alumni Emilie de Ravin and Lana Parrilla in the series, while there’s no word on when the actor will appear.

Garcia was mentioned by creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz last month as one of three candidates from Lost that the duo have already dream-cast for future roles. The actor was not given a speculative part at the time, but the other two mentioned to being courted is Naveen Andrews as Jafar from Aladdin and Rebecca Mader as Ariel from The Little Mermaid.

While a “giant” really points to being at the top of a giant beanstalk, there is no confirmation whether or not Garcia will be uttering “Fee fi fo fum”. As we’ve reported before, the series is actively exploring for a “Jack” in a hint that the classic fairy tale will finally come to life later this season but so far developments have been quite silent for the time being.

As for Garcia’s chance of showing up in more than one episode, there’s a good chance that with the star being in good faith with the creators that we’ll be seeing more of the actor in the future should there be a narrative opening. De Ravin was strictly a guest star who had only signed on for one episode until she showed up two more times before the series wrapped up its first year, then being promoted to a series regular in the off-season. So at least there’s a little bit of hope.

Once Upon a Time returns Sunday September 30th at 8PM on ABC.
