With a new season opener for the hit CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, fans have come to expect another sneak peek of that not-so-far-off wedding day that has been building over the past two years. First came the reveal of the groom, while this past season finale led to the reveal of the bride-to-be. Now, co-creator Craig Thomas promises that the Season 8 premiere will feature the longest and most extensive look inside the impending nuptials to date. And today, CBS has decided to being unveiling what we can expect with the first look at what’s to come along with the story the first episode back will be supplying us with.
EW released the first image from the season premiere today, showing a glimpse of yet another flashforward to the wedding of Barney and Robin. However, the groom doesn’t look like he’s 100% confident with pledging his life to another person (click on the photo for a larger look):

“Farhampton” — Robin’s anxiety on her wedding day to Barney prompts Ted to recount the time he insisted on leaving Victoria’s jilted fiancé a note before they drove off into the sunset together, on the eighth season premiere of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, Monday, Sept. 24 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Thomas Lennon (“Reno 911”) guest stars as Klaus, Victoria’s ex-fiance, and Michael Trucco (“Fairly Legal”) guest stars as Nick, Robin’s boyfriend.
Hmm…it’s interesting that the description already lists that Robin has a boyfriend (with the previously named character of Trucco only being referred to as “crush”), and that it seems both she and Barney will have big day jitters. How exactly did they get there? Well, that seems to be the biggest mystery of all. Whether or not we get that answer in the next year or not certainly remains to be seen.
