Bruno Gunn Cast in ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ As Latest Arena Combatant

Gunn

The casting for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has been churning out plenty of names this week as one by one those warriors who will be competing against each other in the titular event have been gaining faces by the day. Yesterday, the first District 2 tribute was cast as Meta Golding joined the sequel as the fang-wielding Enobaria. Now, it’s time for District 2 to finish off their tributes as one of the more promising villains has joined the group of antagonists that will be fighting against Katniss and Peeta.

Lionsgate has announced today that actor Bruno Gunn has been cast in the role of District 2 enemy Brutus. An elder opponent in his 40s, Brutus is a massive threat in the next arena battle as he is responsible for many deaths and violence within the games itself. However, perhaps his biggest importance is a major character development for male lead Peeta as he gets his hands dirty at the end of the next Hunger Games.

Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has sold more than 50 million books in print and digital in the U.S. alone.

Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, Golding, Jena Malone, Lynn Cohen, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Amanda Plummer, Willow Shields, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones and more, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set for release on November 22nd, 2013.
