‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?’ Announced to Hit Blu-Ray In Special Anniversary Edition

Plenty of classics have seen the transition to Blu-Ray already this year. Indiana JonesE.T.TitanicLittle Shop of Horrors,Jaws, and even multiple Disney classics will all hit shelves in HD by the time the year comes to a close. But, what other classics are left to bump up into beautiful high definition? Well for starters, it seems Disney doesn’t want to leave one of their 80s masterpieces behind. With a big milestone coming up, now Disney’s plan is beginning to unveil as the live-action and animation crossover noir masterpiece known as Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is finally coming to Blu-Ray.

Now although the promo has been released, Walt Disney Pictures has yet to make an official announcement about the upcoming re-release. The plan right now is for the film to hit Blu-Ray sometime in 2013 in order to celebrate its 25th Anniversary. No release date, special features, or cover art have yet been revealed, but its expected to have the some bonus material as the 15th anniversary edition released back in 2003.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was originally released in 1988, and received both financial and universal acclaim. It obtained four Oscars and was the first animated film to do so since Mary Poppins in 1964. The film is also seen as the spark the reignited Disney’s animated passion, with hits later released includingThe Little MermaidBeauty and the BeastAladdinThe Lion King, and more. The legacy of the movie still holds up today, and is still the only time in animation history where Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny have both appeared on screen together.
