SDCC: First Full-Length Trailer for ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 3, Premiere Dated

With the panel for The Walking Dead officially wrapped at this year’s Comic-Con, attendees received a special look at the upcoming season with an extended trailer comprised of completely new footage. The anticipation is still mounting, and fans can’t wait to see just what’s in store for what has been the biggest story arc in the comic books so far. Now, AMC has decided to release that same trailer online today in advance of the broadcast premiere this Sunday. Not only that, but we now know just when the season will finally debut.

At the panel, creator Robert Kirkman and showrunner Glen Mazzara announced the third season will premiere on October 14th at 9PM only on AMC.

The new season will heavily feature new locales such as The Prison and the town of Woodbury, along with new characters such as The Governor (David Morrissey) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). Joining everything new will be a small touch of the old as Michael Rooker will return with only three limbs as Merle returns for the first time since the early days of Season 1. Rooke appeared as a hallucination last season, however, to brother Daryl (Norman Reedus).
