First Trailer for ‘Jack Reacher’ Has Tom Cruise Kicking Ass As An Anti-Hero

The week had started off a bit early on Sunday when the first trailer for the upcoming action thriller Jack Reacher made its way online. The only problem happened to be that the entire trailer was misunderstood unless you spoke Russian, ruling out a good chunk of domestic viewers hoping for a great first impressions. Thankfully, Paramount has now released the first trailer for Jack Reacher in English for everyone to see following the leak just a couple days ago, with Tom Cruise still beating down bad guys but proclaiming that he isn’t a hero regardless.

Many have compared the first trailer to some kind of take onDrive, while others aren’t exactly too thrilled just yet. Given the high-profile status of the film, Jack Reacher is certainly a feature to watch. It’ll be interesting to see if Cruise’s action tactics fly as he possibly becomes the face of an all-new franchise, or rather people will simply see it as an extension of other films the actor has done in the genre next to his highly successful Mission Impossible series.

Directed and co-written by Chris McQuarrie, Jack Reacherfollows Tom Cruise’s titular character who is a “hulking loner who hitchhikes from town to town, always finding himself smack in a situation where a helpless person needs someone who can put the clues together, and lay an ass whooping on anybody who gets in his way.” Paramount sees this as a possible new franchise for Cruise, which would be his second at the studio, and likely with the name “Jack Reacher” they could easily tack on various novel titles onto follow-up adpatations.

Co-starring main villain Werner Herzog, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Michael Raymond-James and Robert Duvall,Jack Reacher is set for release on December 21st.
