Already deep in the middle of principal photography, action sequel Machete Kills already has quite the ensemble set for the return to the Grindhouse-style story. Among the names already involved, there are many more females in the film set to kick some ass and sling some guns rather than males with Robert Rodriguez keeping some names in the dark. Now not only has the director confirmed one pop mega-star has been cast in a secretive role, but he’ll be reuniting with one of his former child stars for a interesting one-two punch.

Rodriguez has confirmed today that Lady Gaga will be appearing in the film as a character called “La Chameleon”, and with it came the first official character poster for the film that you can see below. Details on her role are currently unclear, but Rodriguez says that Gaga ”kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!”

With Gaga also comes the confirmation that Alexa Vega, who was previously the co-lead of the Spy Kids franchise, has been cast as well in a role that has yet to be detailed as well. Vega tweeted out the accompanying photo below, showing that she’s grown up over the past decade, with the actress clad in a bra covered in metallic covering. The 23 year old was last seen in the gritty musicals Repo! The Genetic Opera and The Devil’s Carnival, while she is also in the news for recently filing for divorce from her husband of almost two years.

Co-starring Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, Zoe Saldana, Edward James Olmos, Demian Bichir, and more, Machete Kills is currently scheduled to hit sometime next year.
