Last week, it had been revealed that Wilfred was coming back earlier than expected as a special preview episode would be hitting the internet before the season premiere on June 28th. Titled “Progress”, the episode has hit the Internet and seems to answer some of the questions posed in last fall’s season finale, while also bringing guest stars Robin Williams, Allison Mack, Rob Riggle, Brian Baumgartner (The Office), and more. Furthermore, not only does it tackle the cliffhangers we received, but it also brings forth some of the most important questions that the series has ever stemmed about Ryan’s sanity, Wilfred’s existence, and may certainly leave some fans with mixed reactions. I have to say I was blown away by this premiere. I’m not saying the ending doesn’t feel a tad disappointing as certain elements come flowing back, and there are a few decent laughs in here as well, but the overly serious tone is one that actually works and is incredibly riveting in the process. Williams’ character is certainly an anchor and highlight for the half hour, and it’s a mind-bending installment that will have you thinking and judging nearly every piece of information that surfaces in the entire runtime.

“Progress” will air this Thursday, June 21st on FX, whileWilfred‘s second season officially debuts on June 28th at 10PM.
