Last season on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Darth Maul was launched back into regular continuity as he was not only established as quite the mentally ill antagonist thanks to the events of The Phantom Menace, but was also restored to his former badass glory as the year came to an end. While it was unclear just how long the villain would return for, it’s clear that Maul will continue his reign in the upcoming fifth season as he seeks to find his ultimate revenge against the Jedi with brother Savage Opress. Now, the first trailer for the season has been revealed, and includes plenty of exciting teases, such as Jon Favreau’s character of Pre Vizsla returning with an all-new weapon.

At a little over two minutes, a lot of images are shown that fans are likely to dissect over the summer before much more is revealed next month at Comic-Con. Is the very snowy enbankment Anakin and Obi-Wan find themselves on happen to be the famous planet of Hoth? Just how does Pre Vizsla receive a darksaber? With Darth Maul and Savage Opress obviously out of both Sith and Jedi ties, could they in fact lead a third faction to attack both parties in an all-new war of The Clone Wars? Will Vizsla and The Death Watch team up with Maul for a little justice against “Sith pretender” Dooku?

Star Wars: The Clone Wars returns sometime this fall on Cartoon Network.
