This past weekend, we told you about the rumor that executive producer Tim Minear started regarding a 10th Anniversary Firefly panel happening at San Diego Comic-Con in just two short weeks. However, with details very scarce it was hard to actually pinpoint what would become of the news. Thankfully, with the schedule being unveiled this week for the massive event, not only do we now know that the panel is a clear reality, but also who will be sitting in the Anniversary seats, and one more surprise left to come later this year.
THR confirms that Firefly: The 10th Anniversary Panel will be coming to SDCC on Friday July 13th at 12:30 PM in Ballroom 20. Minear will be on the panel, along with creator/director/writer Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher, Alan Tudyk, Michael Fairman, and ”the rest of the crew of the Serenity”. It’s unclear if this means that Summer Glau, Morena Baccarin, Jewel Staite, Gina Torres, and others will be attending, but regardless with most of the principal cast there it should already be a packed house.
The panel comes from the Science Channel, who will be hosting their first ever Comic-Con panels and announcements at this year’s convention. Two announcements they’re letting slip early? This December, Science will be having a 10th Anniversary Special for Firefly. No details are yet available, but it’s expected to be revealed at the panel, alongside ”never-before-seen footage” and “numerous buzz-worthy surprises.”
The second announcement comes that Science Channel will also be taking Fringe underneath its wing. Starting this November, the hit sci-fi series that could will be shown in syndication on the network. The show will enter its fifth and final season later this year on FOX, while Science will air all four seasons of Fringe during its swan song. This will continue the network’s relationship with star John Noble, who narrates Science’s Dark Matters: Twisted But True which will see new episodes starting July 14th.
