With The Dark Knight Rises a month away, many are hoping for a quick look beforehand at the next installment in the DC Comics film franchise as Man of Steel reboots Superman under the helm of Zack Snyder. While word has it the film could kick off a joint cinematic universe that eventually leads to a Justice League film first, many are both excited and skeptical to see just how the film will turn out. With a trailer rumored to hit before Nolan’s Bat-finale, not only has a new report surfaced saying we may see the trailer even earlier, but we may even get a great deal of Krypton in the new film as well.
CBM reports that sources tell them a “good portion” of the movie will take place on Superman’s birth planet of Krypton as its ripped apart by war. While we all know just how the war ends with the planet’s ultimate fate propelling the superhero to Earth, this does make plenty of sense seeing how Russell Crowe’s Jor-El has been seen in tattered costume on-set before. This also opens up the possibility to see Jor-El and Zod duke it out one-on-one before Zod faces the next generation in Kal-El, but when exactly we’ll see the Krypton sequence has yet to be revealed if true. While it could happen near the beginning, there is even the chance that hologram Jor-El in the Fortress of Solitude introduces us to our enemy through archive footage.
While it was reported that Warner Brothers would be bringingMan of Steel to Comic-Con, it seemed that with a week to go until The Dark Knight Rises, the panel could set the stage for a possible trailer premiere. The source told CBM that not only will Man of Steel be at the con, but they’ll also be packing a trailer in as well, along with possibly exclusive footage. If true, the long standing rumor that the trailer will premiere before Batman’s final bow now seems almost inevitable.
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question ‘Why am I here?’ Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.
Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Antje Traue, Christopher Meloni, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Richard Schiff, and more, while also directed by Zack Snyder, Man of Steel flies into theaters on June 14th, 2013.
