For the longest time, actress Jennifer Connelly has been rumored for Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming dramatic biblical epicNoah, ultimately leading to a debunking earlier this year, followed by plenty of mixed reports. Until this point, it was unclear just whether or not the project would lead Connelly as the female lead but it seems with casting picking up for filming this summer it was make or break time for her role. Now, it seems the second female of the film has been cast as Connelly has finally begun her official track into joining the film.
Variety reports that Jennifer Connelly has officially entered talks to star as Noah’s wife in the upcoming adaptation from Aronofsky. Connelly was being courted by the production for months, but wouldn’t officially enter talks for quite some time. No offer has yet been given for the actress, but if successful she will join previous cast members Russell Crowe, Ray Winstone, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Douglas Booth. Also, if she signs on she will be reuniting with Crowe for the first time in over a decade as the two played husband and wife in the 2001 Oscar-winning A Beautiful Mind.
Noah is officially described as “a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. The screenplay was written by Aronofsky and Ari Handel and revised by Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter John Logan (Gladiator, Hugo).”
Among the other characters in the film Winstone will lead a group of Marauders to take over Noah’s ark where he tries to turn Noah’s son Ham (Lerman) against his father in order to protect the human race. Meanwhile, it’s said that Watson’s character will grow a close relationship with Noah’s other son Shem (Booth).
Currently, the film is set for release on March 28th, 2014.
