Yesterday, Walt Disney Pictures officially announced that the live-action Maleficent has finally moved into production, giving us our first look at Angelina Jolie as the titular character in the process. While we still have less than two years until the film actually hits theaters, many are excited to have the classic Disney fairy tale expanded upon with an impressive cast. Now, the first set photos of the film have been revealed today, and with them comes an interesting look at Maleficent’s head gear.

Comingsoon posted a gallery of set photos from the Maleficentset, and you can check out the entire collection of photos over at the link. But, interestingly enough we get to Jolie filming looking pretty casual, and with it comes the look at Jolie’s character possessing horns. The character of Maleficent has the ability to transform into a large destructive dragon, as she does at the end of Sleeping Beauty, and it seems that these natural horns that she obviously is shown with may just tap into that ability.

This is the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” The film reveals the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora. Co-starring in the film are Sharlto Copley (“District 9”), Elle Fanning (“Super 8”), Sam Riley (“On the Road”), Imelda Staunton (“Vera Drake”), Miranda Richardson (“The Hours”), Juno Temple (“Atonement”) and Lesley Manville (“Secrets & Lies”).

Maleficent, directed by Robert Stromberg, is set for release in 3D on March 14th, 2014.
