With the Licensing Expo set to begin next week, some first images, logos, and synopsis of some of the upcoming projects that studios have to offer. While it’s unclear just what plans to show up at the Expo, there will certainly be plenty to go around with big sequels and some original efforts starting to make their ways towards release. Now, not only have the first promo images for the upcoming Fast Six and After Earth made their way out of the gate early, but also the story reveal forCloud 2: Revenge of the Leftovers and Man of Steel.
While the Man of Steel promo image doesn’t give us much, the upcoming Superman reboot did receive a big push thanks to already gaining some licensing partners with Warner Brothers’ help. Lego, Mattel, Rubie’s Costume Co, Noble Collection, Kinetix, Junkfood, Bioworld, Converse, and Hallmark are all reportedly teaming up for various merchandise such as toys, clothes, costumes, and ornaments for next year’s big bow for the Kryptonian. Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, and more under the direction of Zack Snyder, Man of Steel hits theaters on June 14th, 2013. [Variety]
Meanwhile, Sony Pictures dealt out a combo image that included the first logo for the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan sci-fi film After Earth, and an already-seen image for the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs sequel. The Earth symbol hints at the A and E capitalization, while showing what may be a grim looking earth. Starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith, the film follows a boy navigating an abandoned Earth to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes, and is set for release on June 7th, 2013.
Cloudy 2, meanwhile, was given its first synopsis and story details. As it turns out, the events in the sequel will directly follow after what occurred in the first film as the synopsis describes the film:
“In the wake of the disastrous food storm at the end of the first movie, Flint Lockwood and friends are forced to leave their town of Swallow Falls. But when it is discovered that sentient food beasts have overrun the island, they are asked to return to save the world…again.”
Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers, set to feature most of the original film’s cast, won’t be released until February 7th, 2014. [Collider]
Finally, the first promo image for the working titled Fast & Furious 6 has also been revealed. While plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know that the driving will be taken to Europe as Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Michelle Rodriguez all return to their respective roles, with Luke Evans and Gina Carano joining as new characters. Justin Lin will return to the director chair for a release on May 24th, 2013. [Collider]
