First Promo for ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 5 Alludes to Final Episodes

With Mad Men officially done for the season, another large drama audience will be waiting simply weeks until their show returns in the series’ place: Breaking Bad. The hotly talked about and Emmy award winning series will return in just a month to kick off its final run of 16 episodes, of which only eight will air this year. With a season finale that melted half of our faces off, this weekend AMC released the first short promo for the upcoming new season, and not only does it certainly show Heisenberg at his intensifying best but also serves an even deeper purpose.

While the scene itself is certainly exciting to watch, you can’t help but think that this is creator Vince Gilligan’s way of almost impersonating his series through Walt while Saul seems to be the network. “We’re done when I say we’re done,” Walt tells Saul inches away from his face. It’s that kind of thinly veiled meaning that certainly speaks volumes in terms of just what a 10 second promo brings to the table, and on top of a double meaning, seeing Walter with intense power is both scary & devilishly exciting.

Breaking Bad will run for eight episodes this year starting July 15th on AMC. The final eight episodes will air at a time yet to be determined in 2013.
