We’re only months away before Tom Cruise goes from rock & roller back to kick ass action star with this Holidays’ Jack Reacher. Adapted from novel series by Lee Child, Cruise is ready to potentially launch anotehr series of films that could certainly grasp the attention of a worldwide audience. But so far, we haven’t had anything to go by besides a brief plot synopsis, cast, and crew. While the verdict is still out on whether or not the film will show up at San Diego Comic-Con, the first photo for the movie has been released today, showing Cruise in all his bad-ass glory.

Directed and co-written by Chris McQuarrie, Jack Reacherfollows Tom Cruise’s titular character who is a “hulking loner who hitchhikes from town to town, always finding himself smack in a situation where a helpless person needs someone who can put the clues together, and lay an ass whupping on anybody who gets in his way.” Paramount sees this as a possible new franchise for Cruise, which would be his second at the studio, and likely with the name “Jack Reacher” they could easily tack on various novel titles onto follow-up adpatations.

Co-starring main villain Werner Herzog, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Michael Raymond-James and Robert Duvall,Jack Reacher is set for release on December 21st.
