When news hit that an all-new Gears of War will be announced at E3 next week, gamers everywhere exploded in a cloud of excitement. The franchise has had quite an impressive number in sales and players alike, though some thought the series would likely take a little break before unveiling any upcoming plans. Now, it seems the initial reporter wants to give you something more to looking forward for as the weekend comes, and they’ve unveiled not only the moniker the game will go by, but also two large protagonists at the center of the game.
Game Informer continued the reveals coming today by unveiling the game’s title will be Gears of War: Judgement. While the title ties in to the handcuffed cover, it feels a bit…lacking in my opinion. Maybe “Judgement Day” sounds better, but at the same time a bit cliche. Then again, perhaps it’s just a title I’ll learn to fall in love with.
But, who will be judging in the upcoming title? New cover photos, which you can see below, reveal not only will The Locust be rampaging back as the main villains of the game, but the story will also involve The Cole Train himself and Damon Baird. With this also comes the heavy hint that the game will be a prequel likely starting on Emergence Day. Not only does Cole look years younger than that of which we’re used to, but also the duo’s armor is very much in tact compared to the ones seen in the main trilogy. The sleeves are still attached, the chest plates don’t look nearly as torn up, and it almost looks fresh off an assembly line.
Not much more information is available, but the title will be formally introduced at Monday’s Xbox Press Conference starting at 12:30PM EST, so stick it here as we’ll be live blogging the major three E3 press conferences, along with gaming news, trailers, and announcements that you should care about.
