UPFRONTS: Fox Unveils 2012-13 Schedule with ‘Glee’ Moving to Thursdays and ‘Touch’ to Fridays

With upfronts kicking off today, its going to be a long week for television. NBC debuts their new series in just an hour and a half, while FOX makes their move this afternoon. But, FOX has decided to unveil their schedule early, and show what we can expect later today. Interestingly enough, however, this also means that two returning series will be mixed around in timeslots to make room for both some reality competition and all-night comedy.

In a rather interesting move, FOX is moving Glee from its Tuesday spot to an all-new Thursday spot. If schedules hold up, Glee will be competing against The OfficeGrey’s Anatomy, CSI, and whatever The CW puts after The Vampire Diaries. The reason for this? Simple: FOX believes that Glee‘s low numbers (which has been hitting series lows week after week) are due to the timeslot, so they’re hoping it will do better elsewhere. If it doesn’t, well…the hit may just become a bubble series. Putting it behind The X Factor, however, is a wise choice that may just lead to a bump in ratings.

Meanwhile, the network has seemingly seen an all-comedy Tuesday is in the cards, and has decided to put two returning favorites with two new comedies. Can all four shows give a two hour comedy block worth celebrating over? Perhaps. But certainly one series that isn’t celebrating may be Touch. Moved around plenty during its first season run from Tuesdays to Mondays to Thursdays, Touch will be in the very dangerous Friday night death slot before Fringe’s final season. Whether or not it can survive, however, remains to be seen.

Other series that have yet to be scheduled, as they’ll premiere mid-season, happen to be American IdolThe Cleveland Show, new comedy The Goodwin Games, Kevin Williamson’s serial killer drama with Kevin Bacon The Following, and more. Until then, here’s your fall look (new series in bold):
