With a trailer now out, buzz has only simmered down just a little for Rian Johnson’s upcoming time travel action thrillerLooper. With a cast that includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, and more, the first trailer seemed to focus a great deal on Levitt and Willis, leaving Blunt out of the occasion. Now, three still for the upcoming film have been revealed, showing Blunt getting in on the action, another new look at Levitt’s younger version of Willis, and even Johnson’s own directing method.
Now, in the trailer we did receive glimpses of Blunt’s character, and really the still provided below doesn’t change anything about what little we’ve seen of her. Her role remains very much mysterious, and it’s still not determined just how she factors in, but that’s sure to be unveiled as the promotion for the film goes on in the next five months.
Gordon-Levitt’s prosthetics look perhaps the most natural we’ve ever seen in this new photo focused on him, while he also gets some advice from the man behind the camera as well.
Time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day they decide to “close the loop”, sending back Joe’s future self for assassination.
Looper, co-starring, Jeff Daniels, Piper Perabo, and more, jumps into your theater on September 28th.
