With The Amazing Spider-Man getting plenty of promotion, the latest marketing event that saw a 4-minute extended look at the film’s final trailer certainly sent a great deal of positivity thanks to the car rescuing scene that was revealed. The Avengers still at #1 means that most audiences are rewatching that trailer once more, and it means a great deal of exposure to audiences still unsure about the reboot. Now, Sony is going to make sure that audiences have the longest look at the film yet as they’ve revealed an even more extended peek at the film will be headed to theaters this weekend with a high-profile sequel.
On Facebook, Sony announced that The Amazing Spider-Manwill be receiving a 6-minute preview with IMAX 3D showings ofMen in Black 3 starting this weekend upon the film’s release. All evidence points to simply another extended final trailer, but it could in fact be something different if Sony is willing to up the ante.
As someone who finally saw the trailer in 3D this past weekend, I have to say: I’m really excited to see the upcoming Spidey film in the format. In 2D, there are some shots that look like typical downgraded effects just for the more expensive format, and it always somewhat seems like a turn off to me. Then, the 3D version is pretty great. The swinging through New York City was the most the 3D really popped for me, and I absolutely loved it. There are some movies that I plan on seeing in 3D, and The Amazing Spider-Man is definitely one of them after the impressions of that trailer.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters on July 3rd.
