Red Band Trailer for ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’

Out of all the films that have not so much buzz going into the summer, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has a great deal of mixed ones. While the concept sounds incredibly odd, it was the first trailer that actually had people believe that this may just turn out to be a decent outing after all. Now that not so much marketing has gone into the adaptation, a red band trailer for the upcoming film has finally premiered showing the more gory and action-packed aspects of the upcoming film. But, does the first impression still stand strong?

For some reason, this second trailer doesn’t nearly give me the same thrill I received during the first. At least the premiere trailer showed us big set pieces, and some impressive moments, while this one just shows us some not-so-up-to-par special effects likely for the 3D release, plenty of violence, not so much Abe, and campy moves that just doesn’t thrill me. While the talent behind the film is great, it’s the fact that the concept sounds ludicrous to begin with that shoots skepticism for many (worked with Battleship didn’t it?) and just doesn’t want to be taken as a serious film that is gaining any wide public traction. Personally, my expectations aren’t high for this one, but I very much hope for it to prove me wrong.

The film explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold history that shaped our nation. As a young boy, Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) witnesses the shocking death of his mother, leading him on a path to an ongoing war – and ultimately to the presidency – he chronicles in a hidden diary. The journal reveals the incredible story of a clandestine warrior who never stopped fighting for the country he led and the people he loved.Starring Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rufus Sewell, and Marton Csokas, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter hits theaters on June 22nd.
