Jon Favreau Returning For ‘Iron Man 3′ To Act, Four New Stills from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

Favreau

When Jon Favreau revealed he wouldn’t return to Iron Man 3 to direct, fans were pretty upset as the actor-turned-director was very much a dedicated mind that was really connected to the comics. While he remained in a producing capacity for both The Avengers and the upcoming threequel he won’t helm, he will in fact be back on the screen. Also, it seems The Amazing Spider-Man is prepping for the 6 minute preview that hits IMAX 3D today as four new photos from the upcoming film have hit the web, with an all-new look at the reboot’s big baddie.

Thankfully Favreau will return as the loyal bodyguard Happy Hogan in Iron Man 3, which officially began shooting on Wednesday in North Carolina. It’s unclear how large his role will be, but Hogan received a much larger part in the last film which cemented his importance in the franchise. With Shane Black at the helm, however, it’s unclear how the next sequel will change up what the series has brought so far, as Black has been said as saying that he was going to thematically push Tony Stark back to that cave in the first film.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwenyth Paltrow, Guy Pearce, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, and Ashley Hamilton, Iron Man 3 is schedule for release on May 3rd, 2013. [THR]

Meanwhile, the next Marvel feature is nearly here as The Amazing Spider-Man reboots its way into theaters. While we’ve seen plenty of glimpses of The Lizard already, it seems Sony is saving the best for last as it wants really the true reveal to happen on the big screen in 3D. Now, four new stills from the film have been released, and the latest to feature The Lizard looks absolutely creepy. We get more of Curt Connors before his transformation, the happy couple roaming the high schools halls, and Gwen possibly looking for her better half as it seems The Lizard begins his rampage on Peter Parker.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters on July 3rd. [CBM]
