Full Length Trailer for ‘The Bourne Legacy’

The Bourne Legacyhas had very little marketing so far, and with only two months to go until its release, you would think that Universal should begin to push the next installment in their hit spy franchise. Then again, after the bomb that was Battleship, who could blame them. The studio is hopeful in their fairy tale reimagining Snow White and the Huntsman this weekend, and as luck would have it Universal has attached an all-new trailer for The Bourne Legacy. Now that we have a full extent of Aaron Cross’ global rampage that continues the overarching story, it seems the upcoming spin-off of sorts is ready to blow us away.

The full length trailer has me absolutely sold on Legacy. While we haven’t received much in terms of footage, the new trailer doesn’t start off a bit shaky. It feels like somewhat of a rehash of Jason Bourne’s own origins until Cross starts to remember basically everything. It’s when the trailer intersects with the events of Ultimatum that truly the trailer begins to shine, and we get to a fast paced and riveting thriller.

I’m not quite convinced completley on Renner just yet, though he has impressed in Ghost Protocol and Avengers, but other than that the set pieces look phenomenal, and it looks like one hell of an action thriller.

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office: The Bourne Legacy. The writer/director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films. For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.

The Bourne Legacy drops into theaters on August 3rd.
