Earlier this month, we told you that ABC was close to renewing multiple series after a very successful season this year. With the #1 new dramas including Revenge and Once Upon a Time, along with some fresh acclaimed comedies as well, the network has looked prime for the fall. Now, ABC has officially announced that seven series have been renewed for new seasons.
Tonight, Castle, Suburgatory, Revenge, Once Upon a Time,Modern Family, The Middle, and Grey’s Anatomy have all been renewed for brand new seasons.
None of these series really come as a surprise, as none of them have been on the bubble. Massively successful in their own rights, each show has a devoted fan following, as well as the critics approval on top of it.
The only uncertain one of the bunch happened to be Grey’s Anatomy. Yesterday, it was confirmed that series stars Sandra Oh, Ellen Pompeo, and Patrick Dempsey had reached deals for two more seasons of the show, leaving the ability for the medical drama to continue on until May 2014 if possible. Who else will return has yet to be determined.
Castle aired its season finale this past Monday, with Once Upon a Time to follow this Sunday. Out of the big names attached to the new episodes, Barbera Hershey’s character of Cora was originally said to return in a recurring arc for Once Upon a Time, but a deal has yet to be signed or made public. Her casting call originally called for the possible arc, but there is no confirmation. There’s also rumor that the series is trying to get Sebastian Stan as a series regular, with no word on that either.
