‘Titanic’ Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray 3D Release Date Revealed

Jack and Rose are coming home in both HD and 3D.

2012 is certainly starting to be the year that studios are pumping out classics on Blu-Ray. Jaws will be seeing the HD upgrade, while the entire James Bond and Indiana Jonesfranchises will also be on their way out by the end of the year. Disney themselves are putting out nearly three dozen of their own classics on the format straight out of the Disney Vault. One major film missing? How about the Best Picture winning and biggest box office film of all time Titanic? With the 3D re-release, it was only a matter of time, and now it seems that release date has finally been revealed.

Amazon has listed that the Blu-Ray 3D combo pack will be hitting stores on September 14th, which means the regular Blu-Ray copy will likely be out the same day. What new features this includes, if any, has yet to be revealed, and the cover art supplied is simply the 3D poster with the typical Blu-Ray header on top of it.

At over three hours long, the reputation of Titanic will obviously make the HD effort a must own for various individuals, and has been one of the most requested Blu-Ray re-releases in recent years. James Cameron released his own recently hailed film Avatar in two versions: the regular film with no extras, with a special edition months later that had multiple bonus features included. It’s unclear if Cameron will do the same here, but after the lengthy wait for the movie to hit, it seems unlikely.
