Steven Soderbergh’s ‘The Side Effects’ Retitled Again?; First Look at Rooney Mara

Steven Soderbergh has prepping for his film The Side Effects for sometime now. After a financial shuffle, along with some of the cast, the drama is set to truly come together very soon, and it’s been awhile since we’ve received an update. Now, with production looming, we not only get our first glance at Rooney Mara’s character in the upcoming movie, but also another title change as well.

Just Jared posted the set photos seen below, saying the Steven Soderbergh production is now called The Bitter Pill, which is different from the previously retitled effort The Side Effects. Mara signed on to the film in late January, with a production start scheduled for this month, though that’s truly the last we heard about the movie itself.

The Bitter Pill is set to be Soderbergh’s possible penultimate film, as he’s sworn a possible retirement. However, the director has been busy since, getting ready to release his third film in less than one year with Magic Mike this summer.

As for The Bitter Pill, the film stara Mara as Elizabeth Hawkins, “who begins to have paranoid delusions upon the ingestion of a medication prescribed by her new psychiatrist (Jude Law). The two begin to have a sexual relationship, causing a strain in her relationship with her husband (Channing Tatum).” Also starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, the drama is shooting in New York City now, with a release for sometime Early 2013.
