The first trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation has made plenty of people excited. It certainly looks far from its predecessor, and with plenty of promise and star power, hopefully it can properly reboot the dead on arrival franchise. Now, Paramount has released the second trailer for the upcoming action-packed film, and finds ways to not only impress with some big set pieces, but also to bring a few laughs in there as well.
Via Machinima, who exclusively premiered the trailer:
There’s a lot to love about the trailer. Sure, we get quips from Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum, showing us that not everything is as serious as it looks, but we also get fantastic looking moments, including more of the hillside ninja scene that has a huge avalanche. The presidental angle is also addressed, giving the story more of a focus, but fails to go too far into detail to introduce the bigger plan by Cobra Commander. And perhaps that’s a good thing, as we don’t want the entire story showcased in trailers just yet.
In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. When Cobra spy Zartan has most of the Joes assassinated, the remaining Joes band together to strike back.
Starring Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Bruce Willis, Ray Stevenson, and more, G.I. Joe: Retaliation hits on June 29th.
