With one week until The Five-Year Engagement hits theaters, it’s hard to say how the R-rated comedy will do. With the team behind Forgetting Sarah Marshall looking to repeat success once more, there’s a phenomenal cast behind the film as well. Now, just as the wedding within the film is delayed for a long period of time, the red band trailer for the film has finally hit as well.
It’s weird to have the movie show us its R-rated bits this late into the marketing, especially with literally just days until the movie hits theaters, but it seems forgiveable with how funny the trailer is. There’s not too much cursing, but you can see exactly where the film got its restricted rating from, and the vast number of comedic characters included make them all the more better. Kevin Hart, Brian Posehn, Chris Pratt, Chris Parnell, and more are all part of the laughs in the trailer, while the sharply written dialogue from Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller certainly helps as well.
Produced by Judd Apatow, directed by Stoller, and starring Segel, Emily Blunt, Hart, Posehn, Pratt, Parnell, Alison Brie, Rhys Ifans, Mindy Kaling, and more, The Five-Year Engagement opens next Friday, April 27th.
Does the red band trailer come too little too late, or are you headed out next weekend to see it?
