Though there’s plenty of marketing around The Avengers, we still don’t know just who the hell Loki’s alien army is in the upcoming superhero team-up. Easily one of the most anticipated films of the last decade, director Joss Whedon has vowed that it’s not comic book species Kree or Skrull. Now, a new TV spot has been released, showing a more up close look at the villains, and yet no definitive answer as to what the hell they are.

Now, it’s very much unclear as to what the hell these things are. Whedon has said it’s by the comics, and yet there’s no clear indication as to what the alien villains could be. Some are speculating that Whedon is actually fibbing, and this could be a reimagined version of the Kree. Or who knows, it could actually be the shapeshifting Skrulls in disguise! It’s said their from the Thor world of the Nine Realms, but their identities are still very much under wraps.

The Avengers, starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Colbie Smulders, and more, will assemble into theaters on May 4th.
