New Iron Man TV Spot for ‘The Avengers’ Puts Some Footage into Context

With The Avengers marketing, we’ve seen TV spots that have solely focused on individual heroes. Thor was first, while Black Widow came right after. Now, it’s everyone’s favorite billionaire with a quick wit Tony Stark’s turn. While news has been pumping out about his own upcoming sequel, the man of gold and red is featured in his own one minute long spot, which also features a few new snippets of footage, helping to put some previously seen footage into context.

What the TV spot does show us, besides a few additional lines of dialogue tacked on to scenes we’ve seen, happens to be that The Hulk isn’t just plowing through stuff as we’ve seen: he’s escaping the S.H.I.E.L.D. hellicarrier. If the shot of bloody Hulk is the creature landing, then perhaps his scrapes and bleeding is in fact understandable.

Meanwhile, we also see that there’s more to the action sequence of Tony flying up into the sky as well, featuring much more weapons than initially anticipated, and the attack upon multiple enemies at once. That’ll sure be one hell of a visual display to see.

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”–the super hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Directed by Joss Whedon, and starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, and more, The Avengers opens on May 4th.
