New Clip from ‘Battleship’ Gives A Look at the Face of the Enemy

One of the biggest ongoing mysteries for The Avengers has been just who the hell the alien enemy is in the upcoming film.Battleship, on the other hand, doesn’t have that big of a question. While it’s certainly interesting to see just who is attacking the Naval Fleet of heroes, the enemies do come off as a bit…robotic. Now, Universal Pictures has released the latest clip from the film, which not only show off one of the enemy soldiers, but definitely provide plenty of intriguing questions as to just what it is.

For the most part, the enemy looks human. The spongy goatee look on his chin definitely helps show that. But, it’s Rihanna’s monologue that definitely adds some mystery to the entire ordeal. Could these be Atlantis soldiers, coming from the deep to attack the humans, and rise from the depths? Or, are they just a set of aliens mindlessly come to take the planet?

Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper’s older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper’s crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane.

Starring Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard, Jesse Plemons, and more, Battleshipopens everywhere on May 18th.
