Mickey Rourke and Rosario Dawson Confirmed for ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’

Rouke as Marv

After last week’s set announcement that the sequel to Sin City, subtitled A Dame to Kill For, will begin filming this summer, fans are understandably thrilled. However, the big question happens to be just who will be returning for the second installment. Though the comics suggest otherwise, no one has officially signed on, until now. Not only has one actor confirmed he’s returning, but director Robert Rodriguez has said two more heavy hitters will be coming back as well.

Actor Michael Madsen, who played corrupt partner Bob to Bruce Willis’ character in the original film, has confirmed that he will be returning to the second film, as CBM reports. But, the biggest news comes straight from Rodriguez, who has confirmed to MTV that he’s spoken to Rosario Dawson over the weekend and not only will she come back, but also Mickey Rourke.

“[Rourke is] all excited to come back, but he’s probably the first one,” Rodriguez told MTV. “I saw Rosario [Dawson] too. I ran into her for something else, and she’s pumped. They’ve always been excited about doing another one, so that will be fun.”

However, as we’ve said before, two of the bigger players happens to be Clive Owen and Jessica Alba. Alba’s character of Nancy shows up in the graphic novel of the sequel, but given her frequent working relationship with Rodriguez, it would be surprising if she couldn’t do it. Owen, on the other hand, is the trickier one. Earlier this year, the actor said he’d be interested in returning for the sequel, given that he loved Robert and the first film. But, he had been completely in the dark.

It should be noted too that Owen’s character of Dwight in the main protagonist of A Dame to Kill For from the comic perspective, and is visibly bald for a major portion of the story. Whether or not Owen would be willing to shave his locks to reprise his character is certainly something to see, and he certainly remains as the biggest holdout.

Production is set to begin after Rodriguez wraps filming onMachete Kills this summer, with a possible late 2013 release.
