Dr. Horrible is one of those projects that are highly anticipated for a sequel. Though Joss Whedon is incredibly busy, he last said at SXSW that the highly anticipated project would finally get a move on this summer. While he failed to go into specifics, it still got plenty of fans excited. Now, Whedon was asked about the sequel yet again, and this time gave plenty of teasers concerning the storyline.
In an AMA on Reddit, Whedon was asked about Dr. Horrible 2, and he first responded by saying “We’re not shooting right now, we’re still in the early stages of writing. But we hope to make a great deal of progress this summer.” While it’s unclear just how much this “progress” will be, and if it will eventually begin shooting by the time the summer wraps, it’s definitely a positive note. If anything, it definitely shows us that even if we don’t get Dr. Horrible 2 by the end of the year, we’re not too far off.
As for character details, Whedon also let slip our first real details concerning the plot. “Yes, the original cast will be back for Dr H 2, but Penny will be… um…I don’t want to say ‘decomposing’…and you can expect the death of someone you love.”
Well, it seems the most susceptible returning character to face death would have to be the one of Moist, played by The Big Bang Theory star Simon Helberg. Then again, after the big death in the first Dr. Horrible, anyone can bite the dust. However, it certainly sounds like Whedon is hush-hush about Felicia Day’s role of Penny. Could Dr. Horrible end up reviving her, forcing a little zombie action into the sequel? Or will we not see her at all?
We’ll keep you posted on whatever information comes out onDr. Horrible 2 as it becomes available.
